Najib Spent $8billion On Armoured Vehicles

Rakyat diutamakan
Barisan Nasional beli kenderaan berharga 8 billion
8 billion = RM 8,000,000,000
8 billion = RM 1,000,000,000 X 8
8 billion = RM 1,000,000 x

Tony Pua slams BN's decision to buy 256 vehicles for 8 billion ringgit
by Hemananthani Sivanandam

KUALA LUMPUR (April 22, 2010): Opposition leaders are urging the government to review and cancel the contract to purchase 257 8x8 Armoured-Wheeled Vehicle (8x8 AWV) for an "astronomical" amount of RM8 billion.

Tony Pua

"We would like to state upfront that we are disgusted by the transaction. The amount is shocking as each of these non-combat vehicles is priced at a ridiculous RM31.1 million," said Tony Pua (DAP-PJ Utara).

On Tuesday, DRB-Hicom Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (Deftech)’s chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Khamil Jamil announced at a press conference during the 12th Defence Services Asia 2010 Exhibition that the government has given Deftech a letter of intent, entrusting it to develop the 8x8 AWV programme with the support of the Defence Ministry, Malaysian Army and the Malaysian Defence Industry Council.

"We have an order for 257 8x8 AWV units but right now, we are going to come up with the prototypes meant for testing purposes by the army before we develop the whole range of armoured vehicles," Mohd Khamil was quoted saying.

Pua said the amount was shocking as other armoured vehicles in other countries cost far less.
"The Portugese army bought 353 Pandur II 8x8 armoured vehicles for the amount of 364 million euros (RM1.56billion) or an average of 1.03 million euros or only RM4.41 million each.

"In 2009, the U.S Army has awarded a US$2.2 billion contract to General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada, one of the best military vehicle and equipment manufacturer in the world for 724 Light Armoured vehicles (LAV) equivalent of US$3.04 million or only RM9.9million each meant for Saudi Arabia.

"Even the best-in-class main battle tank produced in the United States , M1Abrams M1A2 deployed extensively in Iraq , Kuwait , Saudi Arabia and Australia cost only US$6.1 million or approximately RM19.7 million.

"Despite the price-tag, Deftech admits that they are only at the stage of developing a prototype. The prototype hasn’t been tested but the contract is already out" Pua told reporters at Parliament lobby today.
Pua also said the Barisan Nasional government is "clearly missing the woods for the trees" in the financial management of the country.

"At the same time when the Ministry of Finance has issued strict treasury circulars for all ministries to reduce their operational expenditure by as much as 20%, the Ministry (of Defence) commits to a purchase that completely mocks the attempt by the government to be thrifty," said Pua.

"We hope the Ministry of Defence will now inform us that this is another decimal point error in the contract value," said Pua jokingly. -- theSun

The question here is not whether we need the AWV but rather why are we paying exorbitant price (again!) for something not proven or tested ? Maybe somewhere, someone is getting huge commission for these purchases.

The longer we keep the present government, the faster the country will go bankrupt due to corruption. Then with diminished natural resources, human expertise (due to migration), lack of foreign investments and coupled by tidak-apa attitude of the people, how in this world can Malaysia survive ?

Why Do we Need a New Istana?

UMNO & Istana negara

UMNO-Led Govt's RM 1.1 BILLION "I Scratch-Your-Back-You-Scratch-Mine" Policy with our MONARCHY

Read here more article in " The NUTGRAPH"

Quote

"... WHY do we need a NEW Istana?

Let alone one that sits on 96.52 hectares of land, and, in these severe financial times, one that is reportedly costing the rakyat RM1.1 BILLION ?

Under the Ninth Malaysia Plan, ALL ROYAL PROJECTS are obliged to be conducted by OPEN tender. (But) Projek Istana Negara was NOT , and the costs have suffered as a result.

Initially slated to cost around RM400 million, our new Istana Negara is about to cost the nation RM1.1 billion instead.

In Malaysia, asking for monarchical accountability of their expenses will probably be construed as derhaka, or hasutan against our royal institution.

Are the royal family not, according to the precepts of constitutional monarchy, legally bound to the Malaysian constitution, and thus at least financially accountable to the people?

Should WE, the people, not have some say in HOW we ourselves are financing our Supreme Heads of State?"

This New ISTANA will Cost Taxpayers RM 1.1 BILLION to house the Monarch in the Midst of Ordinary Malaysians' Current Financial Difficulties

IF you drive down Jalan Duta in Kuala Lumpur today, along the road that runs from the Sri Hartamas housing estate to the foot of the majestic Masjid Kuala Lumpur, most of the journey will be flanked on your right by a large TEMPORARY WALL .

That WALL girds the borders of the NEW Istana Negara construction site, slated for completion in 2009 or 2010.

This new Istana (palace) will house each of our nine Malaysian sultans during their five-year stints as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Something about the interminable length of the drive past that long white wall made me ask myself:
Why do we need a new Istana? Let alone one that sits on 96.52 hectares of land, and, in these severe financial times, one that is reportedly costing the rakyat RM1.1 billion?

To give you some idea of what 96.52 hectares of land is, here are some real-world expressions of the size of the new palace.

ONE Jalan Duta Royal Istana is equivalent to:

2.3 MidValley Cities,

4.9 KLCC parks,

209 Khir Toyo mansions, and

3,472 average semi-D houses (at 3,000 sq ft each).
Our present Istana Negara, on Jalan Istana, is a historic building dating back to 1928, and it sits on 11 hectares of land.

Our new Istana therefore represents a (9) nine-fold increase in the amount of land that has been set aside for our Malaysian royalty.

What's Wrong With the Present Istana on 11-Hectares of Prime Land ?
Too Small?

Let's not forget, we live in a constitutional monarchy. That means that our monarchs are accountable to us (Malaysian taxpayers).

ACCOUNTABILITY is what I want to talk about in this article.

I want to do this by taking a short detour to modern day Britain.

British Monarchy and its Subjects

Some time ago, the Guardian reported on a series of parliamentary discussions over the state of the British royal family's finances.

The royal family was deemed exempt from all public spending cuts necessitated by the financial crisis. In fact, they even appeared to be seeking a raise on their yearly allowance, which at present stands at around £7.9 million per annum. Despite their present £21 million surplus in royal reserves, Buckingham Palace officials claimed, in an annual report on royal finances in June, that without a raise, they would be £40 million in the red by 2019.

It is worth noting that there have been a recent slew of drastic cuts in public spending in the UK. This includes a one-year pay freeze for five million public sector workers, and a withdrawing of middle-class tax benefits.

In view of all this, the royal exemption has been perceived by many Members of Parliament (MPs) as gratuitous mollycoddling.

As Liberal Democrat MP Norman Baker said,
"When we are looking at potentially painful cuts in public services, the royal family should not be feather-bedded in this way. I am talking about the taxpayer paying for Prince Andrew's flights to take part in golf matches."

There are two points I wish to make about this Guardian article.

Firstly, I was struck by the liveliness of the comments section, expressing an extraordinary range of opinions on the British monarchy. These range from the critical to the defensive; from the reasoned to the illogical; from the constructive to the banal.

"Welfare bums," one commentator wrote, "they should get a real job."

Another declared: "The Queen, defender of the Faith — worth every penny!" Yet another scoffed: "Parasites at worst, anachronisms at best."

One voice among the yowling anti-royals said staunchly: "I support the royal family one hundred percent. Firstly, they do bring in money via tourists... But more importantly, they support many charities and sports organisations [and they] represent our country's heritage and tradition, and an age lost in the last fifty or so years. I would be deeply saddened to see that gone."

My second point concerns the relative transparency of the state of British royal finances.

It is possible for ANY British citizen to access information about royal expenditure. It is possible, in other words, for the public to have some sense of how much of their tax dollars are being used to finance the royal family, and indeed, for some people to complain about it.

Accountability is at the heart of all attacks and defences of the British monarchy. Its naysayers claim there is not enough of it; its defenders retort that they are more financially accountable than many heads of states would be in a republic.

Royal accountants state, a bit defensively, that the British monarchy supposedly cost each British taxpayer only 69p in the 2008 to 2009 fiscal year.
In the UK, open public debate has NOT resulted in anarchy and the monarchy's dissolution. Rather, it has resulted in a monarchy that has incentive to remain relevant to the people over whom it constitutionally governs, and also continues to be, on the whole, well loved by the majority of British.

Malaysian Taxpayers and the Malaysian Royalties (the Sultans and the Agung)

Where in Malaysia can we have such an open, fearless debate on our monarchical institutions?

That begs the question: Are our royals afraid of what the people think of them that they need to be protected from public opinion?

In Malaysia, I, for one, have no idea how much the rakyat spends on our constitutional monarchs. And I am quite sure that there have been no studies or inquiry commissions into this. Unfortunately, in Malaysia, asking for monarchical accountability of their expenses will probably be construed as derhaka, or hasutan against our royal institution. There are not even, so far as I am aware, any polls of enquiry regarding the general popularity of the various monarchs and their families, let alone published accounts of royal expenditure.
Under the Ninth Malaysia Plan, all ROYAL projects are obliged to be conducted by OPEN tender.
But as PAS's Mahfuz Omar has pointed out, Projek Istana Negara was not, and the project's costs have suffered as a result.
Initially slated to cost around RM400 million, our new Istana Negara is about to cost the nation RM1.1 billion instead.

Are the royal family not, according to the precepts of constitutional monarchy, legally bound to the Malaysian constitution, and thus at least financially accountable to the PEOPLE?

Should WE , the PEOPLE , not have some say in how we ourselves are financing our Supreme Heads of State?

UMNO's Provocation

By PHILIP BOWRING, The New York Times

One ought to be able to laugh at the absurdity of it. But the message is one of ignorance, religious and racial prejudice and political opportunism.

Last week, the Malaysian government declared that Christians in one part of the country could use “Allah” as the word for God when speaking Malay, but that those in most of the country could not. This is the same government that is currently running a public relations campaign called One Malaysia emphasizing the common identity of the nation’s racial and religious mix.

In reality, a government dominated by the United Malays National Organization (UMNO) is using spurious religious/linguistic arguments to shore up its support among a majority Malay electorate, which has been fed for years with preferences and privileges.. Meanwhile, non-Malay money and talent exits the country.

The government had earlier tried to stop the use of the word Allah by all Christians. This was successfully challenged in the High Court. But instead of letting the matter rest, the government declined to back down, setting the scene for the fire bombing of churches. While these could not be laid directly at the door of UMNO, hotheads in the party may well have taken their cue from what non-Muslims see as a deliberate attempt to stir up ethnic/religious issues for political gain. Last year it was Hindus who were the target of Malay provocation.

UMNO political calculation demands that the organization sticks to its demands about the use of the word Allah in peninsular Malaysia , where all Malays are deemed Muslims and where Christians are ethnic Chinese or Indian, but not in the Borneo states of Sabah and Sarawak where there are large communities of Malay-speaking Christians. The UMNO-led coalition needs the support of the multi-ethnic parties in those states.

The word Allah has always been used without Muslim objection by Christians in the Arab world, as well as those in Malay-speaking Indonesia , where there are 10 times as many Muslims as in Malaysia . The word is itself derived from pre-Islamic Semitic language roots. Even Malaysia ’s strictly Islamist opposition party, Parti Islam (PAS), agrees that all Abrahamic faiths are entitled to use the word Allah.

But such facts are of little relevance to UMNO politicians determined to drum up any issue that can be used to show their commitment to defending Malay and Muslim privileges and thus retain the support of a Malay majority against the appeal both of PAS and the multi-ethnic Keadilan party of the former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

UMNO cannot claim to be a party of the pious. Half a century in power has turned it into a vast patronage machine that enriches the Malay elite, providing support for luxurious lifestyles. Its insistence that all Malays are Muslims (and cannot convert) is an attempt to give religious backing to the message of Malay racial preference. That is barely in accord with the universalist notions of global Islam but keeps the loyalty of many Malays otherwise resentful of growing income gaps.

However, the racial and religious divides among the opposition still make an UMNO-led government seem a better choice than the alternatives — most likely ones in which the fundamentalism of PAS would replace the opportunism of UMNO. So despite the deterioration of communal relations in peninsular Malaysia , no major changes are in sight.

This carries two main dangers. The first is the continuing large scale exodus of capital and of talented non-Malays. Five years of generally good prices for its main commodity exports, oil, gas and palm oil, have delivered huge trade surpluses and a current account surplus of more than 10 percent of gross domestic product. But economic growth has been slow due to very weak private investment, only partly offset by large government deficit spending. Once a major recipient of foreign capital, Malaysia is now a source of flight capital. This is only sustainable while commodity prices remain at double levels of five years ago and three times those in 2002.

A longer term danger, at least as perceived by some leading Malays, such as the former Finance Minister Tunku Razaleigh, is that a combination of religious intolerance and resentment of federal exploitation of their natural resources will generate secessionism in the Borneo states. They joined Malaysia in 1963 without much enthusiasm but as the best option open to them as the British withdrew from empire. They do not want their traditions of racial and religious diversity to be poisoned by peninsular prejudices. Their separate treatment on the Allah issue will have some immediate benefits for Kuala Lumpur , but can only underscore just how different they are.

In short, the episode is sad commentary on a nation whose mix of races, its fine infrastructure and wealth of resources has held such promise. If only there really were One Malaysia.

The idea was to use the Catholics to start trouble , shoot the population, get rid of the chinese and indians ALONG THE WAY...take over using emergency powers. This is primarily to distract the population regarding the stealing ot jet engines, the murder of tiong, Altuntaya and the pKFZ scandal running to billions. The mamak used this tactic very sneakily to cover his tracks using ISA/ OSA too. However UMOONO failed to get a larger majority of good Malays and good Muslims who now know that they are playing a dangerous game to seize power.
UMOONO does not care about the population. They have enough money to enjoy and have gala time. If the country and people . suffer .so what. They are rich and can get away anytime. It is power that they want now to hold on in order that they can cover-up their dastardly deeds as long as possible...that is the game..the POWER game.....as long as they are in control even the LAW CANNOT GET THEM. IT IS TIME THAT MALAYS break away from UMOONo's strangle and siege and act independently using their conscience and freedom given in the constitution. They have to think for the nation.

The Corruption Of mahathir: By George Soros.

George Soros is not only one of the best investors in the world but very
well informed too. He has spelt clearly what Malaysians have known all
the while. Malaysia with all the riches in raw materials should have a
stronger currency but what started one for one equivalent with S'pore 30 yrs
ago now has lost out to S'pore currency by 2.3 times. Now Malaysians
know why........Soros has explained in very great detail..... Of course
one cannot get to read this in the main media in Malaysia.

The corruption of Mahathir

by George Soros - published by Bangkok Post

Taxpayers and voters were made to pay for his visionionary expenses
enriching selected vendors along the way all paid by taxpayer or rakyat's
money. The corruption of Mahathir: SOROS' REPLY TO MAHATHIR - Adapted
from Bangkok Post (Not published locally)

I have always said Dr Mahathir is a menace to his own people. Now
only you can see the effects of his foolishness when the ringgit has halved
its value overnight and your economy goes kaput. Single handedly you have
caused hardship to millions of your own people. You have built useless mega
projects at tremendous cost to the country.

The telecoms tower in Kuala Lumpur and the highest building in the
world show how stupid you are. Not only does it cause massive traffic jam,
it has totally no purpose.

If you need high ground for telecoms antennae a nearby mountain is there
for free.

This tower has no purpose from the ground up to 300 metres. The
satelites make this totally unneccesary. A fool and his money are soon
parted. The only thing is you are the fool and the money belongs to
Malaysians. You make 20% in every project, you have real estate in Japan and
billions of shares corruptly acquired.

Your 3 sons are worth 8 billion US$. Where do they get this money? Of
course, corruption.

You are known as the Marcos of Malaysia, having enriched yourself
to the tune of billions.

You dare to shed crocodile tears during UMNO delegates meeting about the
ills of corruption.

Yet you are the most corrupt of all the prime ministers before you.
A thief is crying thief and hopes people look the other way. Who dares to
say anything when the chief is caught with his hands in the candy jar?

You said wisdom is not the monopoly of the West. So is foolishness. You
have more foolishness than most people would believe. Billions are used to
build two high rise Petronas buildings that benefit nobody. They now stand
tall, a symbol of stupidity and irresponsibility. Instead they just add on
to traffic jams. What is this reclamation of 10 islands off Kedah? Totally
absurd and stupid. Of course your benefit is 20%. And the bridge across from
Malacca to Sumatra across international waters?

Why not build a bridge to the moon? I am sure you still can get your
20%. You called me a Moron. How can a Moron make so much money. By allowing
short selling and borrowing millions of shares from your banks we fund
managers made millions out of your inexperience and poor regulations.

You lose all Malaysians' money, therefore you are the Moron. Now you
know too late and start crying over spilt milk.

In Australia you are known as the recalcitrant ego maniac; in UK the
corrupt bastard because of your stupid purchase of our movie studio and the
290 million ringgit Lotus racing car plant and the shady Pergau dam loans
from the UK. They are useless to us and you still want to buy them.

What about buying British reject submarines through your agent, of
course. The agent/ broker is designed to make millions out of the Malaysian
government..

Your purchase of our battleships is at least 50% more than others are
paying. Your purchase of 9 hospitals from UK lock, stock and barrel does
not support your local architects or your industry and the British send you
obsolete medical equipment. The design is atrocious, one end to the other is
half a kilometer and there is no CT-scan, an absolute necessity.

In the UK your face appears in no less than 17 newspapers as a corrupt
dictator. In Malaysia you are known as the (IBM) International Big Mouth.
In Japan they call you the 'smallest one' (brain size). In Pacific islands,
the Santa Claus (giving advice left and right). In south America they call
you the parrot (he talks a lot but does not know what it is about). In
Manila the living Marcos.

In Malaysia they are spending millions to lure tourists and you talk
rubbish scaring every foreigner away. When he is dumb he is doubted a fool,
when he opens his mouth it removes all doubt."

While I agree the West does not have the monopoly to wisdom, your
actions are not the wisest either. Your EAEC has totally no support even in
Asean. Your South-South dialogue meets with the same fate and what is this I
hear of the Bridge from Peninsula Malaysia to Sumatra covering 20 miles
across International shipping lane?

How crazy can one get? Even the Japanese don't have the money. This
world's stupidity seems to be concentrated in one man's mind - yours.

The multimedia super corridor - MSC -. Well in USA its Most Stupid Concept
because we Americans, would have thought of it light years before. Even if
it makes money, we can copy this concept can't we?

Why do you want to spend your hard-earned money doing questionable
projects? It will be like the Bakun project. Abandoned fund wasted and
another white elephant. I always say politicians should not be involved in
business. Your ministers are also businessmen and almost every official is
enriching himself. Look at Rafidah Aziz, selling thousands of Approved
Permits (APs) for cars each worth 20-30 thousand Malaysian dollars. Why not
your government sell them and make the money? She has acquired millions of
shares meant for bumis for free before she agrees to list them.

Look at your Selangor Chief Minister collecting millions for approving high
rise buildings from businessman. He is worth a few billions.
Unfortunately he was caught with a few million pocket money in Australia.
Every Chief minister is awarding useless projects to his cronies then
collecting secret pay offs on the side. The Land Development Boards and
the Economic Development Boards are used to bail out any loses suffered by
politicians. The profits they keep, the loses they force the Government
bodies to absorb. How can your poor ever close the gap when every good deal
is snatched by your politicians? How can your country get out of poverty if
all the billions of corruption money is taken out of the country?

Look at the Sarawak Chief Minister selling billions worth of timber
concessions under the table; selling every piece of state land to
businessmen without tender; using his own companies to obtain lucrative
government contracts; selling approval signatures for a fee 'you pay I
approve'. He has 8 billion US stashed overseas. Thousands of acres of land
are given to one or two companies while thousands of poor people still live
in cardboard makeshift homes; have no water and shit into the river..

Thousands of acres of land are sold to companies for plantations while
the natives do not have even one acre to their name. He is selling sand near
the beaches to one company for earth filling and then ask the government to
spend millions to protect the coastline when erosion occurs.

He lost 300 million of the Sarawak government money trying to make
computer chips. He has built a port in Northern Sarawak town in water so
shallow it needs dredging every year. The Prime Minister built highways
without tender, your cronies get the deal and the price double. Your
Langkawi airport runway was built double the cost by your own company,
Ekran.

The Malaysian nation has lost at least 30 billions during your last 10
years of corrupt rule. One billion lost from the purchase of phantom Skyhawk
war planes nobody has ever seen (are they still in the Nevada desert, USA?).
3 billion lost from the London tin scandal (you thought you could corner the
London tin market without knowing the Americans have a stockpile! Stupidity
at its best. 6 billion Perwaja steel mill where nobody even knows where the
money goes, 3 billion bank Bumiputra scandal when George Tan bribed all the
bank officials to lend him the money.. 6 billion forex lost by Bank Negara
(the fool and his money are soon parted) and 6 billion to build three of the
world's tallest buildings (built by Japanese and Koreans and furniture
imported from France - not Malaysia) and 1 billion lost from purchase of
British warships including fees paid to the broker and under the table..
Add the 10 billion you stole and 5 billion taken by Ministers.

In the 1997 the World Journalists meeting voted Dr Mahathir the Prime
Minister of the Decade. It sounded strange to everybody until it was
revealed those who voted against are threatened by IRD officers and with
losing their jobs. In New York the United Nations 1997 meeting, the most
corrupt Prime Minister of the decade is President Suharto and second Dr
Mahathir (Actually Dr Mahathir should take first place but bribed the
Indonesians to take honour of Number One.

There are Fifty thousand of your university students not given places in
Malaysia but are good enough for places overseas resulting in billions of
dollars lost. The British and the Australians are thinking how stupid. Your
best students are sent overseas raising their standards while as in most
countries the best are kept in local universities and the rejects
sent overseas.. A university student in Hong Kong is much more prestigeous
than any Australian counterpart. You have been colonised by the British so
long you cannot even educate your own people. Look at Hong Kong or
Singapore, less than 5% study overseas. All the money saved. Your country
could save billions if every student overseas is recalled to a local
university, and at the same time raising your own standards.

Your people are still without shoes, without land to farm, without
homes, bathing in rivers shitting in holes in the ground, without water and
electricity. Your cities are concrete jungles without greenery and open
spaces. Your KL is jammed with traffic. Yet you still keep on building high
rises. You should come down from the clouds and stop daydreaming and firmly
plant your feet in the ground. Your schools are cramped 500 students to
an acre and thousands of acres are given free to some politicians who leave
them idle. Your parks are being taken by politicians to build
shop houses and every cabinet minister is a land-grabbing businessman who
builds roads only to their cronies' land.

The Malaysians' Prayer, "Ya Allah, we thank you for your gifts of
timber, oil and grain. But then the devil sent us corrupt Mahathir without a
Brain and look we are back to square one again. So just take Dr Mahathir
back to Hell And we will be alive and well."

In China people have been shot for embezzling one thousand dollars. With
8 billion you have stolen, therefore you would be shot 80 thousand times.
Now you are leading an anti-corruption campaign. We all know what you should
do. Look yourself in the mirror. You see the crooked you. Then use your
left hand and handcuff your right hand. You have put the opposition leader
and his son in jail when they said in parliament you are the richest PM in
the world. And his colleague Mr Karpal Singh too for 2 years.

So I get a reward or bribe if I now say you are the poorest PM in this
world? Your 3 sons are sitting on the board of directors of more than 200
companies. They must have been educated in Harvard school of business and
obtained distinctions? Or is it "you don't know me, you don't do business
in Malaysia" law that applies. Billions of ringgit of Employee's
Provident Fund and public Petronas funds are used to bail out your sons who
make losses investing in every venture you thought you could make money. How
unethical and corrupt. Every one of your politicians is sitting on the board
of tens of companies making thousands without any effort, lending their VIP
names to borrow millions from local banks without collateral.. Now these
have become non- performing loans. Now you want 20 million Malaysians to
sacrifice for the folly of ONE man? Why not the fool resign and admit he
wasted and took most of the money. I could teach you how to put your economy
on track but first you must apologize to the Malaysian people.

Sincerely, George Soros

Mahathir's cronies and Family's accumulated wealth

MY DEAR FELLOW MALAYSIANS THE ABOVE ARE ONLY THOSE THAT WE KNOW OF?..HOW ABOUT THOSE THAT WE DO NOT KNOW OF?????? THINK & JUDGE FOR YOURSELF AND YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN DECIDE WHOM YOU WANT AS THE FUTURE GOVERNMENT !!!!!!

Wednesday, June 09, 2010

Parliament To be moved to Putrajaya.

Hardly has the furore that the govt would be bankrupt by 2019 if subsidies are not gradually removed , we now have news that the govt is considering moving parliament to Putrajaya at a cost of $800 million. How can the govt justify spending $800 million merely for the sake of moving Parliament to Putrajaya?

Arent we suppose to be on some austerity drive to conserve our funds? If removing subsidies is such a priority then should we not also try to curb unnecessary public expenditure? More so when there is no such urgency for the govt to build another Parliament when the present one is adequate and serving us quite well?. Its really amazing how the govt could even consider such a proposal when by its admission we are surely on our way to bankrupcy. It is this type of typical wasteful expenditure that our govt is embarking that is causing our nation to go bankrupt.

Armed Forces To buy Three Support Ships For $2.2 billion.

Are we living in an area that is prone to disaster ? The tsunami that occurred some years back was the only catrasthropic event that took place after some hundred years ago. so why is our armed forces spending $2.2 billion of taxpayers money to purchase three support ships that will only be used to 'provide faster humanitarian aid and disaster relief' The pertinent question we should be concerned is how often do we encounter such humanitarian crisis that requires the service of such support ships? If we only encounter such crisis once in a hundred years surely we dont need such sophisticated support ships on a standby basis waiting for a disaster to happen. $2.2 billion is certainly alot of taxpayers money that could be put to better use.

It seems quite in vogue for the Defence Ministry to conjure fancy schemes to use taxpayers money to purchase items that are a waste of public expenditure. Have the defence ministry given a thought as to what these support ships would be doing in the abscence of any disaster? Most likely the whole project would end up being a white elephant.
